Magna Carta and the Barons' Wars
Magna Carta is seen as the cornerstone of liberty throughout the English-speaking world. But the story of how it came to be accepted is long and complicated. Both King John (reigned 1199-1216) and his successor Henry III (reigned 1216-72) opposed attempts to limit their power and this led to a series of conflicts popularly known as the Barons' Wars.
Below you can scroll through pages from a special magazine produced by The Battlefields Trust that tells the stories of the Barons' Wars. For more information or to join the Trust, please click here.
